2) I have to upgrade WordPress-SEO but I receive an error message every time I try. Apparently the upgrading is necessary to avoid seeing all my post titles vertically, which happens since the upgrading message popped up first and can only be avoided by disactivating the plugin.

Unfortunately these are not theme issues and I can't help you. Please try to contact your hosting provider and ask them to help you.
